Renewable Heating Government Funding Schemes – All homeowners need to know about the “RHI”

On Tuesday 20th April 2021, the UK Government announced their ambitious climate change target that is to be set into law in order to reduce carbon emissions by 78% by 2035. This means that by 2035, the UK should be more than three-quarters of the way to reaching net zero by 2050!

To ensure this target is met, the Carbon Budget will ensure the UK is home to pioneering business, new technologies and green innovations to lead the world in tackling climate change with a low carbon future. The good news here, is that the Government have designed payment schemes to encourage investments in renewable heating systems meaning that you can claim up to £13,900 for changing to carbon free heating in your own home!

We are always hearing of people interested in switching to a renewable heating system to save on their fuel bills and reduce their carbon footprint. However, many decide against the switch due to the difference in initial cost to install an Air Source Heat Pump in comparison to replacing a gas, oil, or LPG boiler.
Unfortunately, often people rule out the option without doing their research. With the significant savings on fuel bills, plus the Government payments, installing an Air Source Heat Pump will actually pay off long term.

Reduced bills, efficient heating, a lowered carbon footprint AND £13,900 back from the Government…

Sounds too good to be true right? Wrong!

Here we will discuss the Government scheme available today.

Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
, Renewable Heating Government Funding Schemes – All homeowners need to know about the “RHI”, Greener Energy Group

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) was put in place by the Government with aims to reduce fossil fuels like gas and oil and to increase the number of homes using renewable technology to heat their homes. The RHI will pay a subsidy of up to £13,900 to any homeowner who installs an Air Source Heat Pump (Non-means tested).

How does it work?

The scheme allows customers to claim RHI payments based on the kilowatt hours (kWh) generated form their Air Source Heat Pump, which will depend on the type and size of the system. This will be based on your heat and hot water demand outlined on your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which you will receive prior to your installation.

At Greener Energy Group, we have a knowledgeable team of staff dedicated to pre-installation paperwork, who will calculate both your expected fuel saving AND the RHI payment you will qualify to receive before you have your Air Source Heat Pump installed. Post-installation, our team will talk each customer through the RHI application to ensure the process is as quick and simple as is can be.

Once you have then joined the RHI scheme, you will be set to receive a quarterly payment over the course of 7 years.

Act Fast!

The Renewable Heat Incentive is only available until 31st March 2022 on a first come first serve basis, and this year it is offering the highest amount to homeowners since 2014!
