A three-bedroom home in Blairgowrie has transformed its energy system by upgrading from an old and ineffective fossil fuelled boiler, to an air source heat pump and installing solar panels.

In April of 2021, the owners of a detached property in Blairgowrie boasting three bedrooms as well as separate study and dining room, approached Greener Energy Group with intentions of going green and cutting energy bills. Previously, the home was heated by an internal oil boiler, which was not only expensive to run, but also environmentally damaging and so they made the decision to go through the process of finding a renewable solution.

After technical surveys and energy assessments, Greener Energy Group selected the largest of Grant UK’s Aerona R32 heat pump range for the property’s heating requirements. The 17kW air source heat pump holds an impressive energy rating of A+++ and despite its larger size compared to its family, it still has the Quiet Mark award, reflecting its low volume when operating even in cold temperatures. Alongside the heat pump, a 200-litre cylinder was installed and connected to the system, to supply hot water for the home as well as heating.

The whole installation was carried out in the summer of 2021 by Greener Energy Groups team of Dillon and Ryan alongside Brian the electrician over 3 days. When giving feedback on the air source heat pump installation, the client said:

“We had Greener Energy Group install our new system last week and the installers where very efficient and managed to get us completely changed over in 3 days. The men installing the system made sure everything was done correctly without too much mess and the whole set up was explained in detail after fitting to make sure we understood how it worked.”

The homeowners are delighted with their new renewable heating system not only keeping their home warm through the Scottish winter, but also lowering their energy bills all while they receive the Government Renewable Heat Incentive at around £12,000.

The clients understood that the all-electric renewable system would mean the home no longer relying on any fossil fuels, and that most energy usage would come from electricity. The client made the clever decision of installing solar panels to the homes roof, in order to even further off set energy costs.

With energy prices due to be at an all-time high in April 2022, the client will have reduced the impact to his monthly bills due to the solar panel system, as the home can utilise the suns natural energy to generate electricity.
